Fodor's Review:
This 16th-century "little hospital" (as the name translates) was one of four church foundling homes, each of which had an orchestra and choir of orphans. Entering through the church of Santa Maria dei Derelitti (St. Mary of the Destitute), you'll see a large gallery built for the young musicians. The orphanage is now a home for the elderly, but its beautiful 18th-century Sala della Musica (Music Room), the only one of its kind to survive, has been carefully restored. On the far wall, Jacopo Guarana's (1720-1808) fresco depicts Apollo, god of music, surrounded by the orphan musicians and their conductor, Pasquale Anfossi.
