Fodor's Review:

This simple 15th-century building underwent a complete makeover before opening as a hotel in 2003. Located in residential rather than tourist Venice, Ca' Formenta offers high-quality services and a canal-side entrance for guests arriving by water taxi; front rooms have a wonderful view of the lagoon. The 15-minute stroll along the waterfront between Piazzo San Marco and this friendly gem of a hotel is through a genuinely "local" part of the city, with plenty of cafés and restaurants. One of the rear rooms has direct access to a pleasant rooftop terrace with tables. Pros: Castello area still feels like authentic Venice; convenient to the Piazza, the Lido, and the north Lagoon islands. Con: Not as convenient to San Polo or upper Dorsoduro.

This hotel is in the perfect location in Castello, easy to find, far from the madness of tourists, yet just 10 minute leisurely walk to San Marco.
The hotel was very clean, breakfast was plenty and the staff was very helpful and friendly, but not overly, just the right amount.
My single room was small, but since I was hardly ever in the room, I had more than enough room.
I would definitely recommend this hotel!
