Fodor's Review

We're just here for the wine. What it lacks in supreme cuisine, Mascareta more than makes up for with its broad and adventurous wine selection (by definition, an enoteca must have more than 100 wines from different varieties), handpicked by owner and brilliant Friuli madman Mauro Lorenzon (you'll know him by his bow tie). Mascareta is also one of the last best bets for a late-night bite, offering mostly cold plates: refined cicchetti, a selection of cured pork and cheeses, and the occasional soup. An offspring of the popular casual restaurant Al Mascaron just down the calle, this place doesn't open until 6 pm, but doesn't close until past midnight—sometimes, way past.
