Al Graspo de Ua

$$$$, Italian, San Marco

User Rating: **** 4.4

Fodor's Review:

Opened in the 19th century as a small osteria, the "Bunch of Grapes" became the meeting place of artists and movie stars back in the 1960s. Today, it serves a faithful clientele of wealthy Italians. The decor is a miscellanea of plants, sculpture, candlelight, and paintings set against brick and white-stucco walls. The owner, Lucio Zanon, speaks fluent English and will introduce you to a wide-ranging menu of fresh pasta, seasonal risotto, and meat and seafood. A treat in late spring is the thick white asparagus from Bassano, which, with a couple of fried eggs, is eaten as a main course. Desserts are all homemade.

Good food and service.....but

No strangers to fine dining, while Al Graspo de Ua delivers on the fine dining experience, we experienced equally good service and food for much less Euros. Not necessarily pretentious, but a bit over the top for the prices. The again, it is Venice....
