$$, Cannaregio
Fodor's Review:
A quiet, friendly hotel housed in a two-floor building (no elevator) just across from the Jewish Ghetto, the Hesperia is within walking distance to the train station but also safely removed from the noise and commercial clutter. Half the rooms offer a beautiful view of the wide (and clean) Cannaregio Canal. The decor doesn't lend much atmosphere, with basic furniture, spare tapestry in pastel shades, and humble, black-and-white versions of Venetian floors, but the space is less cramped than in comparable hotels. Its not-so-central location makes it a possibility when the rest of town is booked solid.
