Locals (mostly middle-aged men) flock to this bacaro/trattoria to have a glass of wine and a plate of pasta while bantering with the genial proprietors, Marco and Giacomo. Take a seat at the long communal table if you can, as it's more pleasurable to enjoy the food while sitting down. Among the offerings are saor three ways -- the gamberetti (small shrimp) in saor might even be better than the classic version made with sardines. The grilled vegetables provide a fine counterpoint to delicacies from the sea.

This restaurant is down a little side street near the Ca d'Oro, but well worth looking for. Very friendly service and excellent food. Their baccala with polenta was the highlight of our culinary experience in Venice.
