Antica Legatoria Piazzesi, the oldest bookbindery in Venice, used to make wonderful hand-printed paper using carved wood stampi (plates for a press), which the artisans carefully filled with colored inks. The stampi are on exhibit in the shop, and the last of this gorgeous paper is slowly being sold off. Due to the high production costs, this kind of paper is now only made to order. Although Piazzesi is a charming little place of great historical value, you'll probably find a more attractive selection in the newer shops.
