The cordial Landolfo family has carefully evoked a private home with their eight guest rooms inside a restored 16th-century tower. Simple but tastefully furnished rooms have ornate wrought-iron headboards, usually atop twin beds. The old stone staircase, large wooden beams, wood shutters, and original brick vaults here and there are reminders of the building's great age. Antica Torre is in a southeast corner of Siena, a 10-minute walk from Piazza del Campo. Pros: Near the town center, charming atmosphere. Cons: Narrow stairway up to the rooms, low ceilings, cramped bathrooms.
