On the outside it's a rather plain manor house with an annex across the street. Inside it's a refined and comfortable country house with numerous sitting rooms that have terra-cotta floors and nice stonework. Guest rooms have exposed-brick walls and wood beams and are filled with simple wooden furnishings and handwoven rugs. The grounds, flanked by vineyards and olive trees, are equally inviting, with lawns, terraces, and a pool. The sophisticated Ristorante Vignale ($-$$$) serves excellent wines and local specialties like cinghiale in umido con nepitella e vin cotto (wild boar stew flavored with catmint and wine). Pros: Intimate public spaces, excellent restaurant, helpful and friendly staff. Cons: North-facing rooms blocked by tall cypress trees, single rooms are small, annex across a busy road.
