Down a narrow street facing a quiet, sun-sprinkled piazzale (small square) stands this small hotel. The brocade bedspreads are fresh and crisp, the proprietor friendly. Although around the corner from the Duomo, the busy Corso Garibaldi, and the great walls of Lucca, the inn, tucked away as it is, feels private—a place to retreat to when you have seen all the church facades you can stand. Two of the eight rooms are wheelchair accessible. In the cheerful apricot breakfast room, filled with framed prints, you can get a more-than-solid breakfast. A little terrace with wicker chairs provides a lovely place to unwind. Pros: Comfortable bed, great breakfast. Cons: Breakfast costs EUR 20.
