Hotel Ilaria Review

The former stables of the Villa Bottini have been transformed into a modern hotel within the historic center. A second-floor terrace, overlooking the villa, makes a comfortable place to relax, and there's a hot tub for the adventurous. Rooms are done in a warm wood veneer with blue-and-white fittings. The availability of free bicycles is a nice bonus in this bike-friendly city, and the sumptuous buffet breakfast could see you through dinner. Residenza dell'Alba, the hotel's annex across the street, was originally part of a 14th-century church; now it's a luxe accommodation with in-room hot tubs.

Nice modern small hotel if you are visiting the medieval walled city of Lucca. Especially if you have been traveling around Italy for awhile and are on Renaissance overload. Cool features include motion detection lights, flat screen TV, spacious living/dining room, whirlpool bath and contemporary decor. Lots of amenities. My complaint with this hotel includes: not being told of continental breakfast or free bicycles at check-in. Observed the young Front desk staff to be curt with guests. Additionally, our room was located down the block in a separate building, scary at first, location felt more like an apartment than hotel stay. Got more comfortable with location after we saw our spacious room with bedroom loft.
