Montalcino

Montalcino

Another medieval hill town with a special claim to fame, Montalcino is the source for Brunello di Montalcino, one of Italy's most esteemed red wines. You can sample it in wine cellars in town or visit one of the nearby wineries for a guided tour and tasting; you must call ahead for reservations—your hotel or the local tourist office can help with arrangements.
