Here's your chance to sleep in a 12th-century castle without emptying your wallet. In a monastery that Amedeo of Savoy gave to the Order of St. Bernard in 1137, this bargain-price lodging is still run by monks. Only 15 km (8 mi) north of Aosta, this simple pension is a good base for hikers and cross-country skiers. Hearty food is included in the full meal plan.
