Vicenza lies at the foot of the Alps, and many wealthier residents spend at least a part of summer in the mountains to escape the heat. The Alpine cuisine that's been incorporated into the local culture can be enjoyed at this popular and friendly trattoria. The house specialty, stinco di maiale al forno (roast port shank), is wonderfully fragrant, with herbs and aromatic vegetables. Game dishes include venison with blueberries and guinea fowl roasted with white grapes. They're also justly proud of their baccalà alla vicentina (cod in an onion, herb, and parmesan sauce, served with polenta). The rather kitschy interior in no way detracts from the good, hearty food.
