Fodor's Review

This 13th-century church houses substantial fragments of Andrea Mantegna's frescoes (1448–50), which were damaged by Allied bombing in World War II. Despite their fragmentary condition, Mantegna's still beautiful and historically important depictions of the martyrdom of Saint James and Saint Christopher show the young artist's mastery of extremely complex problems of perspective.
