Beccherie Review

The name means butcher shop, and this area behind Treviso's Palazzo Trecento is where people bought and sold meat for centuries. It is only fitting that Beccherie should specialize in bollito, a celebrated dish of assorted boiled meats and sauces, which originated in Piedmont but is now so much a part of Veneto cooking that most Veneti regard it as their own. The varied menu, based on the local cuisine, changes according to the season, offering hearty fare in winter and lighter choices in summer. The owner's mother, Depillo Alba Campeol, invented the famous dessert tiramisu in the 1960s, and the Beccharie still makes it to the original, featherlight recipe. Locals have been keeping this family-owned restaurant busy since 1939. Reservations are recommended for dinner.
