Classic Riviera elegance prevails at this palatial hotel overlooking the bay south of the town center. Stroll through the lush garden, then take a dip in the curvaceous heated swimming pool or at the private swimming area on the sea. Antique furniture, such as crystal chandeliers and Louis XV chairs, fills the high-ceiling rooms, and there are marble bathrooms. Pros: Top-notch service, private beach, well-maintained rooms. Con: There can be some noise from nearby construction, expected to continue until 2009.

For the price of the room which was a deluxe with balcony, we thought this hotel was a good value. We entered the room to have a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, a bottle of wine and a wonderful basket of fruit. The room was typical size for Europe but a nice bathroom with a deep tub. The balcony was on the street as all the rooms with view are on the street. There was a lot of noise because this is the main and only street going along the Riviera to Portofino. The pool area was very nice but the beach facility was still closed as we were there in early May. The breakfast was nice and was served two mornings on the patio which was very pleasant. The concierge, Bruno, was very, very nice and even got train tickets for us. The check in desk was a bit grumpy but the concierge made up for it. One big warning, skip the spa. The massage I had was a bit bizzare and I cannot recommend that facility. It was the only negative experience I had with the hotel. It was a good value for the location.
