In the 16th century, wealthy resident Nicolò Grimaldi had a palace built of pink stone quarried in the region. It's been reincarnated as Genoa's Palazzo Municipale (Municipal Building), and so most of the goings-on inside are the stuff of local politics and quickie weddings. You can visit the richly decorated Sala Paganini, where the famous Guarnerius violin that belonged to Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840) is displayed, along with the gardens that connect the palace with the neighboring Palazzo Bianco.
