Parkhotel Laurin Review

An exercise in Art Nouveau opulence, presiding over a large park in the middle of town, is one of the best hotels in all of Alto Adige, with art-filled modern guest rooms and handsome public spaces. The register is filled with the names of Europe's grand nobility, including Archduke Franz Ferdinand (whose murder in Sarajevo sparked World War I). The bar is popular with locals, especially for Jazz Fridays. Restaurant Laurin is superb, using only local ingredients, and bringing a lighter sensibility to rustic regional dishes.

    Park Hotel Laurin Review

This overpriced and overrated hotel should be dropped from Fodor's listings. The air conditioning does not begin to measure up to the challenges of the Bolzano summer heat; the guest rooms are spartan and furnished with low, uncomfortable beds unsuitable for adults; and the public rooms are sweltering in summer and generally unpleasant and run down. I could not check out fast enough.
