Fodor's Review

Neapolitan enchantment can be yours if you stay at this luxurious, quietly understated hotel that overlooks the port immortalized in the song "Santa Lucia." Hundreds of boats bob in the water, the seafood restaurants line the harbor, and the medieval Castel dell'Ovo presides over it all. The lobby sparkles with chandeliers, mirrors, and gilded antiques, and full-length portraits of Neapolitan aristocrats lend an air of nobility. The comfortable guest rooms are traditional,

if somewhat bland (and some are small for the price), the suites come with whirlpool bath, and the restaurant Megaris offers luxe dining.

Bad ending to an otherwise great trip

We ended our Italian honeymoon here. Bad choice. Desk service was rude- we were kept waiting on arrival and had to hunt around in the pitch dark to wake up the attendant who was sleeping on the couch in the lobby for our 5 AM check out. He then wanted to argue with us over our bill. No one waved or smiled as we came and went from the hotel. The room was very nice- we had a suite with whirlpool tub and we had not expeced this level of room. Screaming

winds off the bay kept us awake the first night, but the view was nice. Our package included one dinner, and it was very good. Breakfasts were a bit left-over looking by 9 AM. Overall Naples was rude, and the hotel staff made it even more so.

An Unpleasant Experience

My husband and I stayed here for one night in late April 2002. It was not a pleasant experience. The concierge and front desk staff were unfriendly and not helpful. Our room was fine. However, it was warm in Naples, but the hotel air conditioning was not yet functional for the season. Also, the air circulation system in our room was not working. Another room was tried with the same result. Because the hotel is on a busy street, it was too

noisy to sleep with the window open (which wasn't much help in any event.) So we slept in a hot and stuffy room. Although a pretty location, I would not go back.

SantaLucia Sings

We travelled in a party of 5 adults and 4 children and enjoyed our stay there. The Rooms were exceptional for the price (we took the internet weekend special) which included entrance to the museum and breakfast. One of rooms was a suite which was well appointed (bath robes and Bulgari soaps, bath powders and shampoos).I had my concerns considering this hotel was in Naples but I was pleasantly surprised by there professionalism.

A Pleasant Stay!!

We stayed at the Hotel for 10 days. Payed the basic rate but was upgraded to a larger room probably because of the length of stay. The room was the corner with a wrap around patio. Beautiful views of Vesuvius and the fabulous bay of Naples. Was fairly quiet tho on a busy street, due to double soundproof windows. Excellent buffet breakfast in their Dining room. We were booted out of the dining room for breakfast and put in the bar

area with a slighly less sumptuous buffet due to a tour group whose leader was most rude...he barked at me in Italian, I guess to tell me I was in the wrong room...I stayed. I didn't understand him!! The staff was efficient but cool with the exception of Luca who spoke English and was very helpful! The rooms were very clean; the maid service excellent. We give the Santa Lucia high ratings and would definitely stay there again!!
