La Pergola Review

Occupying a prime location near dead center on Spiaggia Grande, this arbor-covered seating area offers a fabulous (and festive, due to the happy crowds) beachside setting. Often confused with the equally good Buca di Bacco upstairs, it was a dance club until the 1970s. Seafood, unsurprisingly, is the main fareā€”be sure to try the scialatielli ai frutti di mare (fresh pasta with shell fish) or sea bass in acqua pazza (poached in a herb broth). Pizza and chicken breast with fries are also on the menu and there's self-service counter, helpful for those on a budget or heading out to the beach. La Pergola stays open until 1 am, giving you time to digest before trying the homemade dolci (desserts) and ice cream, prepared around the corner at Via della Taranta 6.
