Occupying a prime location near dead center on Spiaggia Grande, this arbor-covered seating area offers a fabulous (and festive, due to the happy crowds) beachside setting. Often confused with the equally good Buca di Bacco upstairs, it was a dance club until the 1970s. Seafood, unsurprisingly, is the main fare—be sure to try the scialatielli ai frutti di mare (fresh pasta with shell fish) or sea bass in acqua pazza (poached in a herb broth). Pizza and chicken breast with fries are also on the menu and there's self-service counter, helpful for those on a budget or heading out to the beach. La Pergola stays open until 1 am, giving you time to digest before trying the homemade dolci (desserts) and ice cream, prepared around the corner at Via della Taranta 6.
