Come here for the rare experience of dining within a 10,000-year-old volcanic crater (thankfully extinct). Though also a hotel, this place is known more for its restaurant, set on the volcano's inner slopes and offering a view of the crater floor's patchwork of farmed plots. Specializing in Neapolitan rustic cuisine, the owner Tobia Costagliola serves whatever is in season. Ordering from the prix-fixe menu you can expect a cornucopia of antipasti and some nouvelle vegetarian dishes such as pasta e cicerchia (with vetchling). The inn's four mini-appartmenti are small but tastefully furnished and provide a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area.
