Fiery sunsets and moonlight cast a glow over the ancient tower at the center of this farmhouse-hotel complex, in the valley below the temples. Stone buildings surround a peaceful geranium- and ivy-filled courtyard and the garden beyond. Standard rooms, some with views of the temples, are nothing fancy, with mellow walls and wooden furniture, and the rustic restaurant, Il Dehors, serves hit-or-miss foodie fare. The hotel is on an unmarked dirt road about 3 km (2 miles)

southeast of the old town.

Not worth the hassle of finding

Cheesy furniture of cheap materials, a moderately clean environment and EVERY ROOM decorated exactly the same. These are not stylish. They are not midsize. There are no antiques in the rooms. And they are ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH 300+ Euro a NIGHT! Now on to the restaurant. The service (or at least our server) was one of the worst Ive experienced anywhere when dining for upwards of 100 Euros on white linen table cloths where the restaurant considers

themselves to be the best in Siciliy. At first I assumed our lack of fluency was to blame but he appeared to equally frustrate the other Italians dining too. The food was ok. Nothing memorable. Nothing to be excited about. The wine was okay. And that was are 5th choice as they were finished with our first 4 choices.

Quiet Pastoral Location

Stayed here 2 nights and would come here again. The rooms are pretty standard with basic small bathrooms but the grounds, the breakfast terrace, the views overlooking the temples and the city were big plusses. We found the restaurant to be quite good, the chef having a more creative flair which was a nice change after 10 days of typical Sicilian fair. For example, I had a cream of celery and thyme soup with a ravioli of snail, grilled tuna steak

on a flavorful bed of couscous, and an orange arancine stuffed with a sweet rice pudding with lemon and raspberry sauce. The service was good, the staff very friendly.
