Torre di Federico II

Fodor's Review:

The mysterious Torre di Federico II stands above the lower part of town. This octagonal tower, of unknown purpose, has been celebrated for millennia as marking the exact geometric center of the island—thus the tower's, and city's, nickname, Umbilicus Siciliae (Navel of Sicily). The interior is not open to the public, but the surrounding park is.
