Fodor's Review

One of the biggest flea markets in Italy—even in Europe, perhaps—Porta Portese welcomes visitors in droves every Sunday 7 am–2 pm. One can literally find anything and everything under the kitchen sink. Treasure seekers and bargain hunters love scrounging around tents for new and used clothing, antique furniture, used books, accessories, and other odds 'n' ends—all at rock-bottom prices. Bring your haggling skills, and cash (preferably small bills–-it'll work in your favor when driving a bargain): stallholders don't accept credit cards, and the nearest ATM is a hike. Keep your valuables close; pickpockets lurk nearby. Tram No. 8 is the best way to reach the market.
