This cute jewel box of a restaurant on the amphitheater-shaped street behind Campo de' Fiori serves the namesake fried fish, and much more. It feels like an escape to Capri, Amalfi, or one of the Pontine Islands off the Rome/Naples coast, all whitewashed with touches of pale sea blue. Much of the cuisine echoes this, with fish served all'amalfitana, (Amalfi style, with fresh lemon and white wine) or in guazetto (usually some variation on seafood broth with
fresh tomato and wine). Also delicious are the baby octopus on toast, pasta with clams, and fish prepared many different ways. The few missteps happen when the cooks try to get too creative, so stick to the southern classics and enjoy this virtual seaside escape.
