Book NowAlpi Review
The sweeping marble entrance here is cool and welcoming; it sets the tone for the rest of this reasonably priced hotel. What sets it apart is the feeling of space—high ceilings with elegant chandeliers, white walls, and marble or parquet floors give it an elegance that is unusual for the price. Some of the bedrooms have antique furniture, and all are tastefully decorated, although the beds are old-fashioned. Fresh flowers are decadently displayed throughout the hotel, and on the terrace. There are slightly formal lounges and a cozier bar downstairs, as well as a restaurant that serves traditional Mediterranean cuisine.

This hotel is nothing like the photos on their website. Touching up with Photoshop is one thing, but we have compared them to our own pictures several times and are fairly certain that they must be from a completely different property!
The two rooms we had were very old and tired and not remotely modern. The refrigerator was broken, the tub area permanently stained, there were only three very weak (<40w) table lamps in a dark green wallpapered room and some trim pieces (vent covers, etc.) completely missing. Also, the elevator is a death trap, even by Italian standards.
Positives: it is close to termini and easy to find and the breakfast was good.
We tried with the front desk twice to at least look at other rooms, but whatever time of day we asked (morning or night) the other time of day is when we should have asked. Basically, they refused to move us.
When I booked it seemed like a nice hotel for a reasonable rate (150E/night), but "you get what you pay for" is even a stretch here. -

We stayed at Hotel Alpi for two nights in February 2007. We arrived in Rome on an early morning flight and immediately went to the hotel. We weren't able to check in due to the time, however, we left our luggage and began to tour Rome. When we returned in the afternoon and checked in, our luggage had already been taken to our room and we were escorted there by the bellman. The room was spotless and definitely big enough for the two of us. The room was also extremely quiet and dark. We will definitely stay at Hotel Alpi the next time we are in Rome. A great value!
