Commonly known as "da Benito," this fish restaurant opened in 1976 with Benito and his son Gilberto at the helm. Ever since, despite its appearance of a tourist trap in an area full of them, this restaurant has come to be known as a great seafood spot not far from the Vatican that strikes a nice balance between refinement and a welcoming homeyness. It's small (only 30 seats) with lots of friendly photos lining the walls. Wooden chairs and tables covered in yellow linens keep the setting low-key, which allows diners to concentrate on the simple, classic seafood. As at most seafood establishments, the quality of their primary ingredients can best be tasted in their large assortment of raw offerings. Winners include their fettuccine with lobster, bombolotti (half-rigatoni) with zucchini and little langoustines, or traditional fish fry.
