Rome Sights

Globe Theater Review

Directed by prolific Roman actor Gigi Proietti, this theater replicates the London original inaugurated in 1576. Rome's homage to Shakespeare is built entirely of wood and seats 1,250 with standing room for 420 groundlings (following Elizabethan custom). Performances are from July to September, generally in Italian. Set in the Villa Borghese park, it is roughly between the Biopark and the Carlo Bilotti museum.
