Il Brillo Parlante

$$-$$$, Italian, Piazza del Popolo

User Rating: **** 4.4

Fodor's Review:

Il Brillo Parlante's location near Piazza del Popolo makes it convenient for lunch or dinner after a bit of shopping in the Via del Corso area. Choose from 20 wines by the glass at the bar or eat downstairs in one of several wood-panel rooms. The menu is extensive for a wine bar; choose from cured meats, crostini (toasted bread with various toppings such as pâté or prosciutto), pastas, grilled meats, and even pizzas.

Pizza and Buffalo Mozzarella

Posted by VinceC from New York City on 6/3/08

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Valadier on our honeymoon next door to Il Brillo Parlante. We ate lunch at the resaurant on the day of our arrival and we were hooked. The decor was nothing special but the anitpasta and pizza was wonderful. I still dream about the Mozzarella di Bufala. As your knife begins to cut a slice the milk just pours from the cheese. The best I have ever had by far. We ate there 4 times (3 lunch and 1 dinner) out of the 4 night we were in Rome.

Fabulous lamb chops!

Posted by LHQ from Boston, Massachusetts on 2/7/07

One of the specialties here is Abbacchio alla Romana -- the little salty rib lamb chops that are a Roman tradition in the spring. Done "al forno" -- in a wood oven, you get a big heap of sizzling luscious chops, eaten traditionally with artichokes. Also very good place for wood oven pizza.
