Fodor's Review:

With its white shutters and pretty canteloupe-hue stone, this hotel is comprised of three historic buildings set behind the Pantheon. It's been in the same family for 200 years, and the personal attention shows in meticulously decorated and maintained lounges and rooms. The lobby is alla Romana—an all white affair; it's elegantly accented with a Venetian chandelier, a stucco statue, a gilded Baroque mirror, and a walnut concierge desk. Upstairs, the pricier rooms are most fetching, with stylish yet comfortable furniture. Each room has built-in oak headboards, a marble-top desk, and a travertine bath. Double-glaze windows make a difference in those rooms that look out over the Piazza della Minerva. There are also three apartments, for two to five people, with full kitchens. Pros: great location in the historical center behind the Pantheon; most of the rooms are spacious; the staff is both polite and helpful. Cons: The layout is mazelike (you must take two elevators to some of the rooms); rooms don't get a lot of light; no Internet access at the hotel.

This is an excellent choice if you are looking to stay in the heart of Rome. Fodor's description is very accurate. We stayed in Room 324, which faces an inner courtyard (which was pretty)so our room was quiet and restful. The only sounds we heard were the church bells. The sheets were crisp, white, ironed, and fabulous to climb into after a long day of walking! The Breakfast buffet was very good and included various cold meats and cheeses, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, various yummy breads/pastries, coffee, and tea. If you want a cappuccino, request it from the waitstaff and they will make you one. It was wonderful! The front desk staff were reserved but very helpful. In particular, Federica helped us many times to secure tickets and book tours. She even stayed late one day to ensure we were booked for a tour we wanted to take. We enjoyed our stay at Albergo Santa Chiara and would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location. One can walk to almost any sight in the city. Outstanding breakfast. Just the way to start the day.Very helpful staff. Other reviews site noisy streets. Fair enough but you are in the center of Rome. The city is alive. Expect the activity. Enjoy it.Any number of great, moderate priced restaurants close by if you stay clear of the tourist traps in Piazza Navona /della Rotunda. Outstanding gelato places just around the corner. This hotel was perfect for our trip.
