Polished walnut antiques, linen sheets, and the occasional painted ceiling -- it's all in the details here. An early-20th-century mansion, the Farnese is carefully authentic, preserving a polished Belle Epoque elegance that sits well with its well-traveled clientele. Add to this a comfortable sitting room you'll actually want to use and a roof garden with a view. It's also near the Metro and within walking distance of St. Peter's.

Nice place but VERY noisy - barking dogs all night long

My first mistake was to book this on the internet. I thought I was booking directly through the hotel, but in fact I was booking through a third party which added 30 Euro to the cost of the room. The hotel is nice, small rooms, good beds, nice decor, but the power to my room failed twice, the safe in the room didn't work, the sink stopped up, the shower was small and WORST of all the neighbors next door have two large dogs that bark throughout the night (in the back of the hotel). Even with the windows closed I woke every night, many times, to barking dogs, Ugh! I never felt rested except when it poured rain, and the dogs were kept inside all night long. That was a nice night. I am in my room now, and they are barking as I write this. Rome doesn't have any ordinances against barking or nuisance dogs. Trust me, they will keep you awake most of the night. Don't book a room in the back of the hotel.
