On a bank of volcanic tufa stone, archaeologists discovered the remains of an Iron Age settlement. Oval-shape wattle huts had thatched roofs resting on wooden poles, which were lodged into holes dug in the tufa. These holes and the canals dug out to channel off rainwater are visible at the site, together with the remains of two archaic circular water cisterns. A reconstruction of the village is displayed in the Antiquarium nearby.
