Catacombe di San Callisto (Catacombs of St. Calixtus)
Catacombe di San Callisto (Catacombs of St. Calixtus) Review
Burial place of many popes of the 3rd century, this is the oldest and best-preserved underground cemetery. One of the (English-speaking) friars who act as custodians of the catacomb will guide you through its crypts and galleries, some adorned with Early Christian frescoes. Watch out for wrong turns: this is a five-story-high catacomb!
