Porta del Popolo (City Gate) Review
The medieval gate in the Aurelian walls was replaced in 1561 by the current one. Bernini further embellished it in 1655 for the much-heralded arrival of Queen Christina of Sweden, who had abdicated her throne to become a Roman Catholic.
