Theater, Campo de' Fiori
Fodor's Review:
Rome is home to many small-scale acting troupes, both Italian and English-speaking. And since Cinecittà -- one of the world's largest film studios -- has seen a renewed popularity (Scorsese's Gangs of New York, Ocean's Twelve, and HBO/BBC Production's series Rome, to name a few recent projects), Rome has again, in recent years, become Hollywood-on-the-Tiber. As such, the city teems with a healthy collection of actors who work onstage when they're not onscreen. Rome's official theater is the Teatro Argentina, but it has mostly plays in Italian, although it does feature some dance performances from time to time. It's larger and more beautiful inside (all burgundy velvet and crystal chandeliers) than the outside of the theater would suggest.
