Fodor's Review

In the shadow of the Pantheon, this trattoria, open since 1961, delights the tourists who tend to come for lunch. There's an air of authenticity here, and you'll see Roman antiques-shop owners who've been regulars here for decades (look for the well-dressed older gentlemen enjoying leisurely meals and perhaps scolding the waitress, by name, when she brings the coffee before the profiteroles). This is the place to try Roman artichokes or vignarola (a fava bean, asparagus, pea, and guanciale stew) in the spring, or the wild boar bruschetta in winter. Pastas are wonderful and filling, and secondi deliver all the Roman staples: oxtail, baby lamb chops, tripe, meatballs, and other hearty fare.
