Fodor's Expert Review

The first luxury hotel built on the Via Veneto, in 1889, the luxurious Majestic was long a favorite among Roman nobility and high society (it served as a backdrop in Fellini's La Dolce Vita). Today, the Majestic holds onto its grand old-world splendor with luxurious furnishings, spacious, light-filled rooms, up-to-date accessories, and white marble bathrooms. The wonderful restaurant and bar share a delightful terrace that overlooks Via Veneto. Another perk is the hotel's 24-hour fitness center and a business center for internet and printing.

Room

At the Majestic Roma, rooms are decorated in an Art Déco style with hardwood floors, golden frames, and sweeping red curtains. Everything is set up in sleek lines, including the hand-polished or lacquered white furniture. All feature satellite TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, minibar, desk and safe. Rooms at the back facing the garden are much quieter.

Tip If you're feeling more grande bellezza, the Via Veneto Suite has its own terrace with a sunbathing deck and six-person whirlpool.

Bathroom

Bathrooms are luxurious and modern, decked from floor-to-ceiling in Calacatta gold marble. A full assortment of luxe toiletries is provided as well as a bathrobe and slippers.

Lobby

Through the gold revolving door, the lobby keeps its neoclassical grand style with marble floors, antique tables and paintings. Freshly-cut flowers are in every corner. Marble steps lead up to the check-in area. Dark wood covers the entire reception, where staff is on call around the clock. Another spacious seating area has fluffy couches and newspapers available from around the world.

Spa

There's no actual spa, but there is an on-property salon, Baldestein if you're looking to get your hair or makeup done.

Gym

There's a small circular gym with the latest Technogym equipment. Personal trainers can be booked for a fee and massages can also be arranged in-room.

Dining

The neoclassical Majestic Ristorante Bistrot is fine-dining at its best with an organic Mediterranean menu. Guests can also enjoy afternoon tea here. While the dining room is a sight to behold with its giant mirrors and chandeliers, for sunset, you'll want to make a reservation on the terrace for prime street viewing.

Drinking

The romantically-lit Majestic Bar feels like you're entering another era, with leather stools and lounge chairs under enormous classical oil paintings. The bartenders are careful in their craft and will treat you like a local.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

It doesn't get much more central than this. You'll be able to walk to all of the city's top attractions. The Barberini Metro is a 1-minute walk away, and you'll also find a line of taxis there.

Restaurants

Hamasei (8-minute walk) is one of the most popular sushi restaurants in the city, especially during the business lunch hour. At night the menu can get very pricey. Angelina (9-minute walk) has a great lunch buffet, and an even better dinner menu with fresh pastas and homemade desserts.

Bars

Bar del Fico near Piazza Navona is worth going just to people watch in the outdoor piazza, named after an ancient fig tree in the square. The Highlander Pub is 10 mins away and is a cozy establishment with an extensive cocktail list with good prices.
