Fodor's Review

Just outside one of Rome's most beautiful piazzas—Piazza Navona—this pleasant hotel has a lovely rooftop terrace perfect for enjoying a cappuccino or glass of wine and taking in the view. Rooms are elegantly furnished with long, flowing drapes and wall-to-wall carpeting or, if you're lucky, parquet wooden floors and warm-color decor. Fitness-conscious guests will appreciate the hotel gym. You can snag a really good deal here in January and February, when room rates can go down to €110.

Beware of overbooking!!

This hotel overbooks and then sends you to one of their lower rated and less desirable locations. We booked a room 3 months in advance for a July visit with this hotels website Leonardihotels. I received an e-mail confirmation from the hotel for those dates. When we arrived on July 14 we were informed that the hotel was overbooked and we would be staying at another Leonardi hotel named La Sistina. I chose this hotel mainly for its location which is

very close to Piazza Navona. I had no intention or desire to stay in another part of the city. Since I had booked the room three months in advance it was difficult to understand why my room was not available. When I produced a copy of my confirmation their response was that the manager had overbooked. After repeatedly denying my request to speak with management the clerk agreed that I had a legitimate complaint but nothing could be done. His only assistance was to offer a taxi to the other hotel. clerk. Their main concern was just getting us out of the lobby as quickly as possible so we wouldnt alarm any other guest of the hotel. Since we had nowhere else to go we had no choice but accept the offer for the hotel La Sistina. To make matters worse the La Sistina was dirty had no hot water when we tried to shower in the afternoon and was in a terrible location. At this time I reserved a room at the Portoghesi hotel which is located just around the corner from the hotel Genio. Hotel Genios policy of overbooking and then down grading your accommodations along with their arrogant and harsh treatment is bad business and definitely not a common practice in Italy. I definitely do not recommend hotel Genio or any other Leonardi hotel
