Palazzo Margherita Review

This is Francis Ford Coppola's Xanadu—a large and luxurious palazzo in the town of his ancestors and now, thanks to the guiding hand of French designer Jacques Grange, Basilicata's top lodging. Although it's on the main square, opposite the town hall, a trip through the hotel entrance seems to transport you to a world of hidden gardens, spacious porticoes, frescoed ceilings, and Moroccan-tiled floors. For mere mortals who want to savor the atmosphere without footing the tab for a suite, head to the Cinecittà bar to dine surrounded by black-and-white photos from movies of yesteryear.
