On the edge of Sasso Barisano, this restaurant bases its menu on seasonal ingredients from around Matera, some of which are gathered by the owner himself. The cavatelli con peperoni cruschi (with local peppers) is dusted with breadcrumbs and full of flavor. The grilled bistecca (steak) is from the native Podolico cattle breed that grazes in upland areas around Matera and has a tenderness all its own. Top off your meal with a slice of homemade goat-cheesecake.
