Osteria Italia Review
A short drive from the center of Alba brings you to the hamlet of San Rocco Seno d'Elvio and this old-style trattoria. The decor is as simple as the menu, which makes a pleasant change from the more elaborate restaurants that you often find in the center of the city. This osteria (really just a "rustic-style" trattoria) is owned by the husband-and-wife team of Renato and Marina Del Piano, and they run it well. To start try the sformato di erbette con fonduta e tartuffo nero (herb flan with cheese fondue and black truffles), and, in truffle season, the uova all'occhio di bue con il tartufo bianco d'Alba (lightly fried eggs with white truffles)—the only way to eat white truffles, they say.
