The Garin family made over the oldest tavern in Courmayeur to create a warm and inviting restaurant that has a 17th-century stone vault, old wooden floor, and huge stone fireplace. The menu offers seasonal specialties and innovative interpretations of regional dishes: when available, the ravioli maison (filled with ricotta cheese flavored with walnuts and bathed with butter and sage) are particularly delicious. My wife and I found Cadran Solaire to be delightful with its warm and inviting decor which is tasteful as well as interesting. We usually visit after completing our evening passigiate or stroll along the via Roma and have a Negroni (or two) which is served with a selection of delicious nibbles before dinner. The restaurant serves a range of local dishes with a good wine list. The food is excellent and the staff friendly and attentive but booking
are essential especially on weekends when the bar and restaurant fills with elegant Milanese.
