Fodor's Review:
Il Casolare offers the rare chance of dining and lodging within a 10,000-year-old volcanic crater (thankfully extinct). This place is particularly known for its restaurant, perched on the inner slopes of the volcano, offering a view of the patchwork of farmed plots on the crater floor. Specializing in cucina contadina napoletana (Neapolitan rustic cuisine) the owner Tobia serves whatever is in season. The set price menu is about EUR 30: expect a cornucopia of antipasti and some nouvelle vegetarian dishes like pasta e cicerchia (with vetchling). The inn's three mini-appartmenti are small but tastefully furnished, a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area. Transfers can be arranged from the nearby railway station of Lucrino.
