Ristorante Calise Capriccio Review
The town's most centrally-located restaurant is run by Caffè Calise, which has been in business since 1925. Bang in the middle of the square, this one-time nightclub has a terrace overlooking the busy road and the boats of the tourist marina. Presided over by Giuseppe Marra (who has an impressive international CV), the menu is based on the day's catch with an experimental twist. Starters include fried calamaretti (squid) with onion, and swordfish with capers. Local wine accompanies paccheri con cozze e pecorino, a bold combination of pasta with mussels sprinkled with cheese. Leave space for the glorious deserts, all from the renowned Calise pasticceria—try the yummy Valentina cake (strawberries and cream on a sponge base).
