Parsifal Review

In 1288 this diminutive property was a convent housing an order of Augustinian friars; today the intact cloister hosts travelers simply intent on enjoying themselves mightily. Ancient, ivy-covered stone arches and a tiled walkway looking out over the coastline lead to a cozy interior that still feels a bit like a retreat. Sun lounges, a garden, a fishpond, a Ping-Pong table, and alfresco dining all overlook the sea. Restoration work is ongoing in the low season, and the swimming pool should be ready for 2012. Guest rooms are small with coved ceilings (monk's cells, after all), and some have Ravello's breathtaking view. The charming young manager dotes on Americans, and gladly accommodates guests all year round. Half board is often required at peak season.
