Fodor's Review:

This elegant hotel has been a local landmark since 1870. The gilt-trim Empire bureaus, 19th-century paintings, shimmering chandeliers, fluted pilasters, and ornate ceilings all create a splendidly luxurious feel. From the hotel's perch midway up Vomero Hill (and convenient to funicular lines), you get fine views of the bay and Capri. If your room doesn't have one of these prized vistas, drink it all in from the excellent rooftop restaurant. There's also a day spa providing a full complement of health and beauty treatments. Pros: Panoramic views, old-world charm. Cons: On a busy road, expensive rates.
