La Pergola Review

Occupying a prime location near dead center on Spaggia Grande beach, this arbor-covered seating area offers a fabulous (and festive, due to the happy crowds) setting. Often confused with the equally good Buca di Bacco upstairs, it was a dance club until the 1970s. Dining here is just as seductive, with seafood unsurprisingly being the main fare—be sure to try the scialatielli ai frutti di mare (fresh pasta with shell fish) or sea bass in acqua pazza (poached in a herb broth). Pizza and chicken breast with fries are also available, if you want to carb up for an afternoon under the beach umbrella. Open until midnight, there's plenty of time to digest before trying the dolci (desserts) and ice cream from their own pasticceria, Il Vicoletto on Via Sariceno.
