A radical face-lift in 2007 revealed this palazzo in all its 17th-century opulence. The tone is set by Cosimo Fanzago's portal (1637-39) leading into the galleried halls of the Banca Intesa San Paolo, one of Italy's major high-street banks. An added treat is the small art gallery on the second floor housing Caravaggio's last painting, Il Martirio di Sant'Orsola, and some landscapes by Gaspar Van Wittel andAnton Sminck Pitloo. A good audio guide covers the beautifully restored rooms and the artwork hanging in them.
